wabam since 1999The new Herbaliser album is scheduled for release on May 26th, and you can already listen to a few track on their site . I’m already hooked. Once again, it looks like a must-have.
I can’t help thinking about that french IT management consulting firm when I see their name. “Kap Bambino” - They’re not new ( 2001 ) but I had never heard them before ( shame on me ), but whatever, they’re.. great ! Two frenchies from Bordeaux, the guy on his machines, the girl on vocals, spitting out some punk energetic electro covered with chiptunish bleep bleeps.. it’s terrific !

If you like hip-hop, if you like funk, if you love funky hip-hop, then run and go buy Breaking Bread’s latest release. A following to the “The 7″ deadly sins”, this is the second compilation of the London collective. Given the current sad state of hip-hop, it brings some much needed freshness and funkyness. A plane ticket to London, please !
Check out their site for more info and their myspace page.

This is my latest discovery, I just came across their track “Starship.6″ while listening to the radio and had that weird feeling of being in Marioland playing Fantasy Zone on pills, and had an urgent need to google for them :

“Plus-Tech Squeeze Box (sounds like Plastic Squeeze Box, actually) are a Shibuya-kei or picopop duo. While they have faint echoes of the bossa/lounge vibe, they are more of an upbeat electro outfit featuring cute vocals and a ton of heavily processed samples. Their second album “Cartooom!” is much heavier and faster than their first, and more of a departure from the languid P5/Fantastic Plastic Machine sound. It’s still very poppy, just much more energetic and frenetic than usual, at times approaching programming levels rivaling those of Aphex Twin. Their sound palate is almost limitless, with “Uncle Chicken’s Drag Rag” being a hyperspace trip through a country jamboree full of banjos and fiddles, “Starship.6″ featuring the aforementioned spastic, distorted drum loops, and “Dough-Nuts Town’s Map,” a trip into a psychotic Toon Town. Something for everyone.” (source: JB’s A-Z of J-Music )
